
Mahmya Island is a National Park renowned for its breathtaking beauty and here you see what the world is like when nature takes care of itself. Covers approximately 3.000 square meters of Gifton Island its borders are surrounded by crystal blue water teeming with coral reef, and several species of brightly colored fish.
Al-Alia Touristic Development Company that operates the resort was granted permission to run the project in 1997 and was opened to guests in August 1998. Mahmya a tourist resort was declared a national protectorate and supervised by the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) to avoid any concrete building in the resort.
The architect built the kitchen and the bathroom on a 20-centimetre high timber platform, the resort's structure and design are totally inspired from natural surroundings.
All visitors on the island are expected to follow strict conservation rules at all times, and to respect the natural surroundings.
